Really looking forward to the upcoming season! I'm writing my bachelors degree this winter, so I hope I have a lot of time to go skiing as well. Alredy tried to start the season on Tuesday on Sognefjellet with Gaute Ringstad Holte, but we got some shitty weather and had to turn around. At least we got to walk a couple of hours with our skis on. oping on better luck next time I go skiing.

Rough cut Season 12/13 start to end Recap GoPro edit
Here is a rough cutted season 12/13 GoPro edit i made quicly yesterday. It's not the best of editing quality, but it at least shows a little skiing from last season. It's edited from start of season to end, so you can see a little how the skiing was troughout the season. The photo at the end is taken by Sverre Hjørnevik (www.sverrehjornevik.com) a couple of years ago in Myrkdalen, Voss.

Røldal Freeride Challenge run
This is my finals run in Røldal Freeride Challenge. Had a good run, but unfortunately loosing my ski on the last landing. Skied out of it clean (!!), but the rules state that if essential gear is lost (skis) it is automaticly a no score. So i didn't get a score on the run, but i'm happy about the run anyways. It atleast was a great crowd pleaser!
Ended up in 3. place in the Norwegian Freeride Cup with competing in 3 of 4, and only getting a score in two of them. Beaten by two local buddys of mine, Dennis Risvoll and Øystein Aasheim. Congrats boys! I won Sogndal Freeride and placed a little further back in Sauda Backcountry Challenge (45 points). I didn't wear my GoPro in Sauda, so I have no footage of that. Did a not so great qualifyer there, but I managed to do a good finals run that boosted me a little up from quali.

Stormsystem "Berit" finally starts our winter!
Thank's to the stormsystem called "berit" that have been pounding the coast of Norway the last days, we are finally getting snow. Down by the coast it's raining seriously hard, but that only means that we are getting loads of snow in the mountains. And hopefully, because of warm weather, we will get a really good and solid base for more snow the fall on if the temperature now gets colder. Haven't got the chance to ski the fresh snow yet, besause of two upcoming exams. I will hopefully get the chance to ski the fresh snow in a few days when one exam is down and some friends are arriving to enjoy the first real snow this season.
Had my first rando-trip on the 16. with some friends up to Steindalsnosi on Sognefjellet. We woke up early to a really nice bluebird day and started driving. With almost no snow in the mountains at that time the almost only option was the Fannaråk glacier. We had to walk on our feet for 1-1,5 hour in to the glacier, and since the glacier had a hardpack of snow most of us decided to keep on walking on our feet.
The last part up to the top where it is steep we put on our crampons and got ourselfs up the last part. It was a bit windy on the top, but we still had a beautiful view of Jotunheimen National Park with all it's mountains. We geared up and put on our ski's. Some decided to walk on ther feet the first steep part, so only me and Eirik skied the exposed top. It was not the best conditions, really hardpack. The good thing is that then you at least know what to expect. We skied down half of the run, and waited for the others. Then we skied the last part of the glacier. We got a really nice suprise on the first part of the flatter part og the glacier, it was actually 5 cm of really nice snow ontop of the hardpack and suprisingly nice skiing. Everyone was happy and we started on the flat part back to the car.
Yesterday it started snowing up in Sogndalsdalen and we tok a little trip up in Frudalen on our feet to check out the conditions. About 30 cm of snow on the parkinglot. 10 min of walking and it was already 10 cm more of snow. And it was still dumping. Have a few pictures taken with my mobilphone, so bad quality. We also built a snowgirl, "Frudalshufsa", playing around in the snow.
Hopefully I can post some skiing pictures and video soon! Just have to get an exam our two out of the way first.
Have fun in the snow that's finally here everyone!!

Fat Tire Festival in Hemsedal
Fat Tire Festival in Hemsedal happened this weekend. Took a day of from school friday, so I could get to Hemsedal for some riding also on Friday. Few riders (we were actually only four riders on friday) meant that you absolutely did not have to stand in line. But heavy rain from 1 pm made the experience pretty wet. On Saturday I woke up to much better weather, and was standing ready when the lifts opened 10 am. On Saturday we where alot more people, I think maybe 50-60 persons where riding. The weather was really good all day, until the lifts closed. Then it started raining again. The video is from my last run of many runs this day. Sorry for the low resolution.
Hope you enjoyed the video!

Sogndal, freeride and fun!
Sogndal Freeride was last weekend. We started early Friday morning. The qualification run went pretty well until the last drop. The trees on the exit were standing denser than I thought. So I had some trouble on my exit, and had a little fall in the landing. I was on second place before the final day. The final day I charged hard at the top, and it went well. But after my big drop I was turning hard to lose some speed, and then accidentally crossed my skis. I probably lost the victory in that mistake. Then I got too far down after the fall, and lost the rest of my line. I got second place after the two days. Considering my two far from perfect runs it’s a good result.
On Sunday everyone was leaving Sogndal, but I decided to stay here for some more days. And I definitively don’t regret that. We had good skiing on both Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday became a resting day after a good concert with Kings of Lien (yes, Lien) on Tuesday night. Last night we got some more snow here, so I think tomorrow is going to be a good day skiing. Probably the whole weekend here in Sogndal will be awesome. It is really a nice place to be, so I’m actually considering studying here from this fall.
Next freeride competition up is Voss Freeride in two and a half weeks. I am really looking forward to that as well. Next up is maybe Alperittet this weekend, a timed race down a mountain. Ski yah!
Video of my two runs. Raw and uncut without music. Enjoy.

A short video from today
I was taking pictures for Helly Hansen today with Johan Wildhagen. I borrowed a pair of alpine skis and Helly Hansen clothes. In between the photographing I also got to do some filming with my GoPro. So here is a short edit from today.

Photoshooting and powderskiing in Voss, Norway
The plan was going to the alps the 10th of January, but heavy snow on the west coast brought me to Voss in Norway instead. First I just moved my planeticket, but now I just let it go. Just staying in Norway until the conditions in the alps gets better. I have been in Voss for an epic week now, and have taken a lot of photos with both Sverre Hjørnevik (www.digitalnatur.no) and Benjamin Hjort (www.hjortmedia.com). We had amazing conditions this whole week, and got to do a lot of fun stuff. On Sunday it started raining, and it still is. But that's actually not necessarily a bad thing, we will get a much more stable snowpack when the weather gets colder again. And the weatherforecast says cold weather and snow, so this might just be the start of some more epic days here in Voss! Here are some pictures from Benjamin in Voss Resort, a little videoclip of Ole Kristian Årmot on one of our powderdays in Myrkdalen, and a GoPro clip of me going down Bodegaen in Voss.
